Okay it was weird to be in Spain for the 4th of July. Missed out on all of the fireworks, but I guess all we are seeing is more than enough to compensate! ;)

Today we went to La Bodega de Jimenez. A bodega is the place where they let the wine age. They showed us a film on how they make the wine and what they do to refine it. It was really pretty... a lot of the walkways were covered with leaves and grapes. It was funny though because it turned out our tour guides were from England and it was their first day on the job. They thought that they were going to be giving the tour in English and then Dr. Naharro told them that we wanted the tour in Spanish. They did a great job though, especially for their first day and in a different language!

We ate at an area called San Lúcar. From our restuarant we could see the Guadelquivir River. I tried some new types of food, including calimares (squid) and clams. We had a cake to celebrate one girl´s, Kelly´s, birthday. It was an excellent apple cake! After eating, some people took off their shoes and walked down to the beach along the water. They said the water was so warm.

We had a long trip to the beach and then to San Roque from San Lúcar and since our literature exam was the next day, I studied so long in the bus. Studying in the bus makes me feel sick, but I didn´t really feel I had any choice. We stopped at a beach for a while. It was pretty late in the day, about 7 pm, so it was kind of cool. I ended up just laying out on a towel because it was too cool to get in the water. I started feeling bad though on the beach and it only got worse on the bus.

When we got to San Roque, all I wanted to do was go to bed. My head hurt so badly and I just felt nauseous. I think it was a combination of being so tired, eating so much fried food for lunch, and being so worried about my literature exam. Everyone was so nice though. Allison carried in my bag for me, Rachel saved me some bread from dinner, and Dr. Naharro helped to get me some camomille tea. I just had my tea and went to sleep.
