Day 3

After breakfast, our local London guide met us on the bus and took us on our driving tour of London. We saw a little of everything. We drove by Westminster Abby and Kensington Palace. Our local guide took us to Buckingham Palace for the changing of the guard. We had a perfect spot to get pictures of the new group who was marching to meet the departing group.

Following the changing of the guard, a group of us headed towards Oxford Circus to do some shopping. We found a little stand that was selling tickets for musicals, and we bought tickets for My Fair Lady. It was a pretty good deal and we were interesting in seeing a show! We split up to check out the area. For lunch, mom and I ate at a little restaurant back in the Carnaby Street area. It was a great deal! For just three pounds each, we had a really good caesar salad. We found a Mango in the area, which was great.

After shopping a bit in the Oxford Circus area, we took the Tube to High Street Kensington. There were more nice shops around there. We hit Marks & Spencer, Monsoon, Sisely, and Benetton. We got back to the hotel about 5 minutes before dinner. Dinner included a breast of turkey (much better than the mackerel), some potatoes, and some mighty fine chocolate cake!

Afterwards we went and got ready for My Fair Lady. We were running a little tighter on time than we would have liked to be. We thought we knew exactly where we were going, but apparently not! We ran around to a few theaters before finally finding the right place. The next to last place was all set to seat us until they told us we were in the wrong theater! When we got to the right place, the show had been underway for about 5 minutes or so. They took us in through the kitchen!!

The show was so good. The place we bought the tickets from recommended it since it actually takes place in London and I think that made it extra enjoyable. I had seen part of the movie, but it was nice to see it start (or almost) to finish! We were pretty tired still from adjusting but it was really good just the same. We were a little turned around coming out of the theater, but it did not take us too long to find the subway. We took the Tube and returned back to the hotel.
