2003-05-27 - London Day 2 After our long flight, we arrived into London. It was around noontime in London, and we wasted no time in getting started. Our tour manager met us at the airport and he was really nice. His name is John and he’s a native of London. We had a little bit of a bus ride before we reached our hotel, which was in the Highstreet Kensington area. It was really nice. We dropped our luggage off and then set out to see the city.
 We took the Tube (subway) and went nearby the Victoria train station. Many in our group needed the opportunity to exchange money so we stopped there and had some time to grab some lunch. Mom and I stopped by a pub in the main square and split an order of fish and chips. They were quite good! We took the Tube onto the Tower of London. The group went through the tour of the Tower and mom and I returned back towards Oxford Circus since we had been through the Tower beforehand. There were so many people up and down the streets. I was excited to find the perfect pair of black shoes at Clarks. The variety in their Clarks stores was so much more than is available in the US. We had dinner that evening at the hotel. It was okay. We had an appetizer of mackerel – which I have determined is definitely not my favorite fish. The main dinner was a hot bar with several selections, including vegetable lasagna and some type of diced potatoes. After dinner we were going to take the group to the Hard Rock Café and Picadilly Circus, but the group was actually tired and wanted to get some rest. I think the jetlag was getting to some! We went with some from the group to a nearby grocery store and then went over to the Internet café which was around the corner from our hotel.
Afterwards, mom and I decided to run over to Picadilly Circus anyhow since we had the unlimited Tube pass for the day. We made a quick run over to the Virgin Megastore and also to HMV before returning to the hotel to get some rest. 97 Cromwell Road London, England Phone: 011-44-20-7370 5757
